If what you mean by “a man like Barack”, a black American. We’ve been ready for quite a while. It’s been a non-issue for a few years. Very few people had issue with Obama’s race.

If what you mean by “a man like Barack”, a socialist. And believes he knows what’s best for “you”. Well, this is what most people were objecting too.

I was actually disappointed in this regard. Did you see the ballots for marriage propositions. And how many passed. And though it’ll be blamed on the Religious Right. One needs to remember the voter turnout for this election was strongly Democrat. California, strongly Democrat. And when these passed with 70%+, you have to realize that was a LOT of Democrat voters.

I was also disappointed, because I know many African-Americans. And they did not vote based on the character or the policies of the man. They voted because of skin color. So while I am glad that America has come so far from where it was 40 yrs ago, I am also saddened that race is still so significant. I would have loved to have seen a black man win but see both the black and white vote split. Then I’d know we’d have come even farther in to colorblindness as a nation.

Terrible leadership for far longer than 8 yrs. We’ve been building up a Federal deficit for decades that now approaches $50 trillion.

Congress is the one group with a lower approval rating than President Bush. It’s easy to blame everything on one man. But there is a whole Congress that is far more to blame for many things.

I would very much like to see a better, safer, freer and more prosperous future as well. I hope we see such.

Sadly, I think both the White House and Congress will continue their tendency to spend the nation into bankruptcy and waste the resources.

i was so happy too. as a canadian and i am so happy for america. it certainly is a step in the right direction. poor obama has inherited so many problems though. i hope he gets two terms to fix it all. the most refreshing part of his speech last night (no mention of the big G (god))… focus on people, their lives and just getting along and making things better cya - stef
